Willis Reece

Willis "Butch" Reece, a cherished member of the community, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 75 in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on January 7, 1951, in Switzer, West Virginia. Willis was the youngest of twelve children, growing up in a large family that instilled in him the values of hard work and camaraderie.

Willis began his career with Pepsi, where he worked for fifteen years.  After that, Willis dedicated thirty years to Abbott Labs as a chemist, where he made contributions that left a lasting impact until his retirement. Colleagues and friends alike remember him as someone who would do anything for you, exemplifying kindness and support in both his professional and personal life.

Outside of work, Willis enjoyed hunting with his friends Tom and Dennis, as well as sharing these moments with his grandson, Tony. He was an avid fan of classic westerns and always cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Willis is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Reece, and her partner, John Schmitz. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Chelsea Guzan and Anthony Guzan. His sisters, Faye Pack, Thelma Peedin, and Brenda Ellis, continue to hold his memory close, along with numerous nieces and nephews. His companion, Bonnie Valentine, along with her daughter, Missy and grandson, Mikey, shared many joyful moments with him and will miss him dearly. Close friends Mike, Tom, and Dennis will remember him for the laughter and good times they shared.

Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Reece, as well as his parents, Maude and Ernest Reece, and eight siblings. His legacy of love and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2-4pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH.  Funeral Service Monday, February 23, 2026 at 12:30pm at the Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
