Zachariah Martin Grimmett

Zachariah Martin Grimmett, 38, of Mt. Gilead, passed away on September 9, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born on August 14, 1988 to Charles and Heidi (Lucks) Grimmett. He attended Westerville schools, graduating from Westerville North High School in 2007.

Along with his parents and partner of over 20 years, Shyla Withem, Zach is survived by his daughters, Lillian Rose and Ivy Dare Grimmett; brothers, Adam Robert George and Jeremiah Dare (fiancé, Sara Rose) Grimmett, both of Westerville North High School; nieces and nephews, Keegan Martin George, Jaxson Anthony Rose, Paisley Rose Grimmett, Tristan Seberig; maternal grandmother, Patricia Martin Lucks; aunts and uncles, Johnny Ray Grimmett, Mike Solis, Cindy Ann Hagan, Tondra and Charles McGinn, Robyn and Bob McGuire, Timothy Martin Lucks; in-laws, Michael and Tammy Moore; and many other family members and close friends.

Those who preceded Zach in death include grandparents, Charles Grimmett Sr., Flora Mae Clark, Linda Grimmett, Jimmy Dare Lucks; aunt, Marie Ann Grimmett, aka Sissy; uncle, Joseph Grimmett; and cousin Janice Nicole Grimmett. Zach was proud of his Native American heritage, holding high honor for his family’s history. Zach had a love for fishing and spent many weekends floating Big Walnut Creek with family and friends. He was a kind soul and maintained lifelong friendships.

Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation from 2pm to 4pm, Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio followed by a service to honor Zach’s life at 4pm. Services officiated by Pastor and neighborhood friend, Mike Sammons of Westerville Free Will Baptist at 390 E College Ave. Westerville, Ohio 43081. Family and friends will be gathering at the Grimmett’s immediately following the service.
